そんなことはないと内心思わせといて・・これは笑いを取るためのジョークでしょ。
まあ、でも案外、本心かな。

でも一生好きなもの、価値がある思えるものが変わらずあるというのも、この人にとっては揺るぎない人生ではなかろうか。


ところで「now that」の「that」の文法的な意味がわからない。全文全体をあいまに接続する「and」みたいな使い方なのかな？
